What characterized the Rebbe’s approach to Israel was a consistent sense of uplifting positivity combined with a striking sense of moral clarity. “G-d’s eyes are upon it from the beginning of the year until the end of the year” was a verse from Deuteronomy he quoted often, referring to Israel. “It’s the safest place in the world,” he’d say time and time again.
The Rebbe was also outspoken and bold when it came to matters of Israeli politics. With millions of Jews living in Israel, the safety and security of Jews there was foremost on the Rebbe’s mind, a responsibility he took seriously.
